| Nainital Hill Station - Rejuvenating, Scenic Nainital |
Elevated at an average of 2,084 m above sea-level, Nainital stands tall in the Kumaon hilly region of Uttaranchal. This unique hill resort is surrounded by mountains and has a huge lake. It’s steeped in mythology; it is believed that when Lord Shiva was carrying his consort’s body, one of her eyes fell down, giving birth to the eye-shaped Naini lake.
Developed by the Britishers and once the summer capital of Uttar Pradesh, Nainital has natural spring waters near Gufa Mahadev, where tourists often bathe before visiting nearby temples. There are temples aplenty – Hanumangarhi, Sheetladevi and Sri Krishnapur, besides others. |
