NANJING
Nanjing is situated on the vast plain of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. TOURIST ATTRACTIONS
Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum : Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum, located in the Zhong Mountain Scenic Area in the east Nanjing city suburbs, covers an area of 80,000 square meters (about 20 acres). Confucius Temple (Fuzimiao)
The Confucius Temple, located on the north bank of the Qinhuai River, was originally erected during the Song Dynasty. All around the temple there are numerous souvenir shops, snack bars, restaurants and entertainment venues housed in Ming and Qing dynasty architecture. Quinn Huai River :The Qinhuai River, a branch of lower Yangtze River, is the "mother river" to the Nanjing people. The river breaks into two branches called Internal Qinhuai River and External Qinhuai River. Nanjing Museum :The Nanjing Museum, located inside the Zhongshan Gate of Nanjing, is a complex of buildings that is modeled after Liao dynasty palace. There are 400,000 artifacts in the museum's various collections, some of which are very precious to China's history such as the set of jade suit sewed with silver thread. Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum :This tomb of Zhu Yuanzhang (1328-98), founder of Ming dynasty, is the model for Ming and Qing dynasty emperors in Beijing. Zhu Yuanzhang is the only Ming dynasty emperor to be buried in Nanjing.
SHOPPING IN NANJING
Nanjing Road is the premier shopping destination of China and one of the busiest shopping streets of the world. Nanjing Road is located to the center of Shanghai and runs from west to east. Nanjing Road is one of the `Four Streets' and is the top ranking commercial hub of the nation Termed as the `shopping paradise'; Nanjing Road of Shanghai is home to more than 600 shops. There is a coexistence of famous old shops, new shops and specialty shops. The shopping center at Nanjing Road in Shanghai is a place where shopping never stops. It is the largest such shopping destination not only in China, but also in AsiaNanjing Boasting more than 20 professional craft workshops and over ten thousand staff, Nanjing produces various kinds of handicraft. Nanjing wood carvings include the imitation wood carving and boxwood carvings. The former is plain in color, with the horse and Buddha's carving the most popular. The latter mainly depicts animals and figures.
NANJING CUISINE
Nanjing has a relatively wide selection of local, regional Chinese and foreign foods, often at reasonable prices. There are numerous classical restaurants serving up these delicacies and the area around the Confucius Temple has some great places to taste good Nanjing food. Western and Japanese food is also becoming increasingly popular and there is a good selection of Western and Chinese food available around the universities off Shanghai Lu. Of course, the big hotels such as The Hilton and The Jinling also have good restaurants. McDonalds and KF Care hugely popular here.
WEATHER
Nanjing essentially enjoys temperate climate because it lies in the zone, which lies under the direct influence of the East Asia Monsoon. In Nanjing one can enjoy all the seasons distinctly. Most of the year Nanjing enjoys hot and humid summers.
