TRUJILLO
Cheap Flights To Trujillo Trujillo is one of the most notable and cozy cities of Peru. It was founded in 1534 by the conqueror Diego de Almagro. The city became the administrative capital of the north of the Peruvian vice- royalty. The Spanish built spectacular churches with altars and gold leaves and filled the city with convents and schools; as well as with houses and artistic gratings, sunlit patios, rooms with finely carved furniture and leather- embossed chests. The city is known as the capital of la Marinera, and it celebrates during January a well attended National Festival. Trujillo is home of the "paso horses" unique in the world and of its elegant horse- dealers with ponchos of linen and hay hats.

Trujillo Cathedral - It was in the Trujillo Cathedral, with its baroque and Romantic features, that the Catholic Church as an institution for the first time came out in support of Independence. Built in 1662 from cedar wood found in Trujillo's valleys, it was declared a National Historical Monument in 1960. The image of Our Lady of Peace, the patron saint of Trujillo, is worshipped at the Cathedral. The handsome temple boasts a Venezuelan colonial baroque altar that is worth visiting. The Historical Center - This attractive colonial mansion is a museum that houses objects, utensils and religious relics of that period, which invite visitors to relive the past. Declared a National Historical Monument in 1963.La Plazuela - This town boasts many traces of its colonial past. The white houses with wooden doors and overhanging roofs that line the handsome stone- paved streets still show harmonious architecture in their lines. The town is also known for its traditional currunchete (a sweet made of brown sugar syrup), queso de paramo, aniseed and Andean chicha, an alcoholic drink made from fermented maize.

The sprawling street mercado that operates daily along Avenida Los Incas. It's one of the more unruly (and headache- inducing) markets in Peru, with vendors struggling to be heard over the incessant sounds of car horns. The market stretches across several blocks and spreads out into the street, selling an unending variety of vegetables, fish, and household items; there are even carts full of charcoal. Most visitors will be better off shopping in Huanchaco. Artesania del Norte, Los Olivos 504 (tel. 044/461- 220), has some of the coolest exclusive ceramics designs in Peru. The mercado de artesania fronting the beach in Huanchaco has a number of stalls and is also an excellent place for jewelry, including pieces made with the sought- after blue stone lapis lazuli.

There are a variety of places to eat and drink in Trujillo .For the most part, Trujillo offers low- key shore restaurants offering the excellent cuisine that the sea has to offer. Within the historic regions, particularly in the Main Square, visitors can find many restaurants serving both traditional Peruvian dishes as well as cuisine from other areas of the world.El Caballero. The favorite spot for seafood amongst the locals. This is perhaps one of the best restaurants in for seafood in the north coast of Honduras. the Pantry restaurant offers daily breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets, the best pizza in town and an international a la carte menu.
