Lima (LIM) is the capital of Peru and Lima is one of the most preferred destinations in South America. The beautiful landscapes and historic past attract a lot of visitors across the globe. The city lies at the heart of the largest conurbation on the western side of South America. The city is famous for its rich culture and heritage. The city was governed by Spanish conqueror for more than four hundred years and as you walk past the city you can find preserves of colonial convents and mansions. Now the city takes its own splendor against all the colonization. As you travel to the cities contemporary townscapes you will find a bewildering mix between different races and status.

The busiest city offers a lot of tourist spotes for all its visitors. Some of the important sight seeing places include The House of Government, The House of Francisco Pizarro, Cathedral of Lima, Palace Arzobispal, San Cristobal Hill, Convent of "Los Descalzos", Cllana, also known as "Juliana" Reducto Park and Municipal Palace. Lima has some of the most craving beaches. The place is famous for its restaurants and dining. Some of the other neighbouring places to travel from Lima include Fortaleza, El Totoral, Chorrillos and Cerro Colorado. Traveling to these places will give a unique experience of beach life.

If you are a shopping buff the streets of Lima surely holds something special for you. You can start our souvenir collection from the Jorge Chavez lima- Callao International airport. The airport has an extensive range of shops so you can spend some time surfing through the ethnic stores selling handicrafts, books, magazines and other items. Lima is a good place to buy traditional Peruvian handicrafts. Miraflores has several handicraft shops around Avenida La Paz or in the large emporia on Avenida Petit Thouars 53- 54, a block from the Miraflores roundabout.

Lima and Miraflores offer a lot in the way of tasty food. You can find a wide variety of international cuisine as well as some great types of Peruvian cuisine. The type of food in Lima is refered to as criollo. Many of the dishes include a variety of fresh fish or shellfish. Ceviche may just be the most representative of any of the Peruvian foods. Ceviche is actually raw fish with is marinated in lemon juice (the acid in the juice "cooks" the fish) and then seasoned with chili. Then onions, cilantro and other spices are added as well. Some other popular dishes are tiradito (fish marinated in lemon juice), coctel de camarones (ie a shrimp cocktail), or jalea, which essentially a mix if deep fried seafood.

Lima has a mild climate, although it is situated in the tropics, and rain in the city is almost unheard of. The weather in Lima is influenced by the cold offshore Humboldt Current, which ensures that summer temperatures hover in the low to mid 60's Fahrenheit (16- 18ºC), and only a few degrees lower in June and July. Humidity in the city is very high, and as a result fog is often present, especially between May and November
