Afghan National Museum once had a large collection of Central Asian artifacts of the world. By bombing the upper floors of the museum most of the previous collection of this museum was ransacked during the reign of Taliban. The Taliban ruined numerous Buddhists treasures. Still now the looted items of this museum are put up in auction all over the world. Now this museum has the collection of early Buddhist and Islamic artifacts.Bagh- e Zanana and Bagh- e Balas are the notable parks of Kabul. Babur Gardens is another famous park in Kabul. This park is used as a picnic spot by the Afghans. Kabul Zoo was inaugurated in the year 1967. In the year 1968 the first department of zoological museum was summed up with Kabul Zoo. As a place of attraction in Kabul this zoo is very popular. The zoo keeper and animal stuffer of this zoo received training from the German zoo experts. Afghan Fauna was the main focus of this zoo.Other places of interest include Kabul City Center, which is Kabul's first shopping mall, the shops around Flower Street and Chicken Street, Wazir Akbar Khan district, o, Shah Do Shamshera and other famous Mosques, the Afghan National Gallery, Afghan National Archive, Afghan Royal Family Mausoleum, the OMAR Mine Museum, Bibi Mahroo Hill, Kabul Cemetery, and Paghman Gardens.

Everything is available in Kabul Indian, Thai and Chinese food now compete with the traditional Afghan food. You choose what is more interesting and which environment is suitable for you. Kabul Ice Cream is among the best handmade manual ice cream. The ice cream has taste of khawa and ginger, and it's superb for Kabul's hot and dry summer. Mostly, meat, vegetable and chicken dishes are consumed. Afghan specialties are Palow (rice cooked with meat, chicken or vegetable), Kababs (minced meat grilled on skewer) & Ashak (similar to ravioli but stuffed with leeks & topped with yogurt and meat). The few main dishes of Afghanistan that are consumed as everyday and ceremonial food are Kabuli Bolanee or Zardak wa Kishmish as appetizers followed by Palow, Bonjaan Chalow, Murgh Kabab or Kofta wa Chalow. For desert you can have Firnee or Shir- yakh or Baklava. All dishes with Naan and Yogurt Sauce.

Everything is possible to find in main bazaar. Clothes, shoes, carpets, vests (vaskat), turbans (lungi), wool blankets, gold and so on. Everything is cheap so bargain hard and don't give up. Afghanistan has an abundance of Gemstone and Jewelry merchants. You can find many good deals here. Chicken Street is the place to head for if souvenirs.Curio shops stocking postcards, boxes made of the famous Afghan blue stone, old musical instruments, beautiful Afghan carpets, and daggers are some of the Kabul famous items to purchase.
