The Albuquerque MSA population includes the city of Rio Rancho, one of the fastest growing cities in the United States, and a hub for many master- planned communities that are expected to draw future businesses and residents to the area. Albuquerque is home to the University of New Mexico (UNM) and Kirtland Air Force Base as well as the Sandia National Laboratories and Petroglyph National Monument. The Sandia Mountains run along the eastern side of Albuquerque, and the Rio Grande flows through the city, north to south.

Adobe Galler- Located inside a home that was built over a hundred years ago, your visit to this gallery will take you through small, intimate rooms filled with some of the best art the Southwest has to offer. Hand- woven Navajo textiles absorb echoes on historic walls that almost talk. As you pass from room to room, and the original hardwood floors creak beneath your feet, you will appreciate the collection of for- sale art that ranges from paintings, to baskets, to traditional Pueblo pottery.

Albuquerque Aquarium - This is an awesome orchestration of natural wonder. Sleek and graceful sharks glide about their sovereignty, a 285,000- gallon climate controlled, simulated natural habitat. Saltwater from the Gulf of Mexico is contained and capsulated in this state of the art facility which brings life from the exotic seas to the high desert. Among the oceanic life exhibited you will see stingrays, sand tigers, sea horses and sea dragons.Distinguished by its dramatic four- story glass rotunda, the Center is versatile and very accessible.

Albuquerque Convention Center - There is always something happening in this modern convention facility. Recently renovated, the center offers one massive, column- free room that embraces over 100,000 square feet. The center is in use year- round by local organizations, touring exhibitions and national conventions. In the 2,400- seat auditorium you will find incredible acoustics, and the sloping floor promises a good seat for everyone.

Albuquerque offers something for everyone whether you're shopping for Native American antiques, upscale clothing, modern home accessories or hand- crafted Southwestern art, you'll find it in Albuquerque. Authentic pottery, weavings, rugs, jewelry and art fill the picturesque adobe shops and galleries of historic Old Town, and Native American artists show their jewelry and other crafts under the portal on the east side of the Plaza. The newly opened ABQ Uptown, you'll find a cluster of upscale specialty shops and restaurants like Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Eddie Bauer, Ann Taylor Loft and the Apple Store. Nearby is Coronado Mall, one of a number of malls in Albuquerque. The west side of Albuquerque offers Cottonwood Mall, an upscale indoor mall with many national brands. Between the national chain stores, local retail businesses and many street vendors in the city, you'll be sure to find that perfect something.

The restaurant offers many fine traditional "New Mexico" Mexican dishes made from century- old recipes handed down over the years from the Fountain, Chavez and Griggs families. One of our most famous dishes, the Tostada Compuesta, originated at La Posta in 1939. The dish consists of a toasted corn tortilla cups filled with frijoles, red chile con carne, topped with chopped lettuce, diced tomatoes and grated cheddar cheese. If you prefer green chile, the "Locals" favorite is the sour cream enchiladas. This dish consists of corn tortillas smothered with green chile sauce, topped with grated cheddar cheese or Monterrey jack cheese and sour cream, and includes refritos, rice and our very tasty Mexican slaw. Other La Posta favorites include our compuesta salad, red enchiladas, folded and rolled tacos, beef or chicken flautas, chile rellenos, as well as a wonderful selection of desserts including our very delicious homemade flan. Perhaps one of our best kept secrets is our tasty succulent steaks, served with your choice of baked potatoes, red enchilada, or steakfries.
