It is one of the best- known cities of Mexico and is a major sea port, located in the state of Guerrero on the Pacific coast of Mexico. It is better known as the tourist resort city of Mexico and is the largest city in the state, even larger than the state capital Chilpancingo. The place derived its name from the Nahuatl words ácatl, poloa and co which means, “The place where the reeds were destroyed” or from the latin words aqua (water) and pulchra (clean or beautiful). With paasing times, it has become a popular tourist resort and an ideal getaway for weekend tourisms. It is also the major destination for most of the cruises from US, the Mexican interior and countries in South America. In fact, it has been regarded as a super tourist destination.
La Quebrada Cliff Divers - No visit to Acapulco is complete without watching the cliff divers perform their impressive jumps into the shallow stream of water of dangerous tides that forms in the bottom part of La Quebrada. One can find food carts in almost every neighborhood, but especially in the older parts of Acapulco. Eating fresh- made tacos and quesadillas on the street is a way of life here for dinner, lunch, or snacks and an economical choice as well.
